As the year winds down, I always carve out some time for myself to reflect. I reflect on the people; my family, friends, industry colleagues, and teammates and how grateful I am for all of them. I reflect on how fortunate I am to live in Canada, in this beautiful province, where my family and I are safe and have housing, healthcare, education and opportunity, which sadly many others lack.
2021 at go2HR, was a year of transformation around our new strategic plan reflecting our 4 core services – Human Resources, Health & Safety, Training, and Research and Strategy. That year, we transformed what we did and the way we do business - collaboration and partnerships were foundational in our efforts.
2022 moved fast and furious and go2HR experienced a year of maturation. We settled into our renewed mandate and the way we work and grew into the things we aspired to do through our transformation. Read the rest of our CEO message below!
Introducing the New Minister of Tourism: Honorable Lana Popham
On December 7, Premier David Eby announced a new provincial cabinet, including new Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Sport: Lana Popham. go2HR has a strong relationship with the Ministry of Tourism. The BC Tourism & Hospitality Conference is March 1-3, 2023
The BC Hotel Association (BCHA) and the Tourism Industry Association of British Columbia (TIABC) are excited to announce that the 2023 BC Tourism & Hospitality Conference is returning from March 1 to 3. The 2023 conference will take place in Prince George and will bring an array of unique industry speakers including keynote speaker, Chief Frank Antoine Co-Founder of Moccasin Trails who is well versed in Indigenous tourism.
📈 Destination Canada’s Research shows Positive Signs of Recovery
Destination Canada launched their newest Tourism Outlook report for fall 2022, which suggests that our tourism industry will show signs of recovery to 2019 levels in 2024, one year earlier than previously estimated. Positive spending data from domestic travelers continues to trend upward, and is expected to reach 92% of 2019 levels by the end of 2022 and with full recovery anticipated in 2023.

Indigenous Tourism BC (ITBC) Signs Renewed Agreements with Tourism Partners
Indigenous Tourism BC (ITBC) signed agreements with Provincial partners at their Annual General Meeting to help support the growth of Indigenous tourism in BC. The Indigenous Tourism Accord aims to increase inclusiveness and raise awareness about the diversity of Indigenous culture and communities in the province. The Tourism and Hospitality labour force remained steady in November from 355,000 in October 2022. The decrease among the Recreation and Entertainment, and Transportation and Travel sectors had offset the increase in the Accommodation, and Food and Beverage sectors.
