As autumn sets in, labour recovery continues to be at the top of the agenda for many. As the BC Tourism and Hospitality Employment Tracker data showed, August and September 2022 were significant, in that employment in our industry surpassed pre-COVID-19 levels with 345,000 employed in the industry, a jump of more than 17,000 from pre-COVID levels. Unfortunately, recovery was not evenly divided across the province nor among the sectors that make up the tourism and hospitality industry, with some faring better than others. Another interesting trend to note is that full time employment is on the rise, another encouraging data point. If you want to learn more, explore our Employment Tracker.
